Bohol beach resort reviews - the amun ini experience
Bohol beach resort reviews: our guests comment…
It was our first trip to Bohol Philippines, and landing in Tagbilaran was an experience. It was a bit of a trek to get to the resort, but once we got there, and greeted with a ‘welcome home’, all the travel time was forgotten. We had entered a little slice of paradise. It was dark when we arrived, so after meeting the rest of the ‘family’, we were whisked off to our rooms for a quick freshen up and then back to the restaurant for dinner. The rooms were incredible, well appointed and faced the ocean. The patio had sand and pebbles to give you that real resort feel, not cold tiles. Luxury bedroom and bathroom. Dinner was divine, thanks to executive chef Joshua and his culinary skills. The ‘Adobo Ribs’ were melt in your mouth, fall off the bone, fantastic. Next morning when daylight crept in, we were blown away with the natural beauty of the place and the surroundings. Breakfast was excellent, you must try the ‘buko’ pancake (I think that is what it was called)…to die for….I booked a massage, it was in a tiny hut overlooking the sea, open air, and had one of the best massages, wrapped in warm banana leaves, bliss. Having arrived at low season, we really felt like Amun Ini was our home, it was just our group of 9. I am definitely going to return and spend more time, and lap in a really relaxing holiday. Oh and what you see on the website…it’s for real….Thanks Fred and also to the rest of the family and pets…
“Amun Ini Experience”
Awesome place and I will always be grateful to my wife to find this gem of a resort. The staff are so welcoming and pleasant and despite the hardships they have suffered due to the recent earthquake, there was little or no feeling of that. The travel to the resort was long (2 hrs approx.) but the resort was worth the drive. From the moment of entry the staff made an impression and was clear that this resort was different from others. The owner himself was there (Fred) and ensured he welcome us and give us a run down of the situation.
Though the resort ran on generator power, we did not feel any inconvenience because of it and we are glad we decided to push through with our trip. The resort is well maintained and the rooms are clean and nicely appointed. Excellent view from the balcony and the resorts grounds are well kept as well. The food is good and despite us being picky eaters, we were accommodated really well and the chef took the time to understand what we need and ensure we get it. I strongly recommend if you can make time or are considering to visit Bohol to do so and consider Amun Ini in your plans.
From the moment we arrived and the doors slid open to be greeted by beaming smiles, to the paddle boarding, the snorkelling, the relaxing on the pristine beach, the massages, exploring underground lakes in caves, the delicious food or just hanging out in the pool, every moment at Amun Ini is a moment to savour. The staff are super friendly; Angie, Pedro, Kristine, Jim and January and many more, thank you :-). And the owners Fred and Karen go out of their way to ensure you have an amazing stay and feel amongst friends. Can’t wait to go back to paradise.
“Beautiful and great people”
Having just returned from a trip to the Philippines and getting the chance to spend a couple of nights at Amun Ini, I can report that Fred and Karin, the owners of the resort and spa, have created a little bit of paradise that feels like home almost immediately. We were greeted by the wonderful couple at the main entrance, a very impressive and welcoming portico leading into the roofed but open-walled restaurant and bar. The view from there is nothing less than gorgeous, over their large, round, infinity-edged pool out to their white sand beach and the azure ocean beyond.
This is really the start of a wonderful resort with just a few rooms–with plans to add a few more–that will remain small, comfortable and thoroughly enjoyable. The staff is excellent, the food is excellent and the location is, well, without equal in the area. Running up and down the coast between dive sites (with Gabi, a great dive guide and truly fun guy), we saw no other beaches or access points that even come close to the property at Amun Ini. When the real estate folks talk about “location, location, location,” this could be the perfect example.
With the dive shop right on the beach, a beach bar and grill right next to that and some of the finest coral in the Philippines just offshore, you can spend the day down there or head up to the pool and spa for some serious spoiling. Gabi will happily show you the 30-foot “mini wall” just out from the beach and then take you past that to the 100-foot wall that runs along the shore for, well, I really don’t know how far. The coral is unspoiled and plentiful, supporting many healthy fish and other marine life. The diving is gorgeous.
Rooms are very interesting, with the option to leave the blinds on the huge bathroom suite window open or close them for privacy; you can always have a view over your private deck to the ocean below from anywhere in your suite. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are immaculately cared for. Our room featured a mini bar and couch, along with a handsome wardrobe for the few clothes you really need there. I’m assuming they all have the same amenities. Oh, and instant hot water heaters for the showers and bathrooms. Pretty nice touch.
But like any fine resort, it’s the people who make things work. Designed by the owners, the resort is especially private, very serene and immediately relaxing. The staff is genuinely friendly–as one expects in the Philippines–and truly dedicated to making sure you enjoy your stay. They could write the book on hospitality.
Bohol boasts a myriad amount of land-based adventures along with great diving and all can be quickly accessed and enjoyed from the resort. You could easily lose track of time and spend weeks at Amun Ini…and be perfectly happy.
I am Italian and I live to fully enjoy life’s big and little pleasures. My recent visit at Amun Ini was a revelation. The resort is a pleasure for the eyes, breathtaking view from the infinity pool, clean and spacious rooms for your siesta. The beach is a little paradise. The cuisine is simply outstanding, every dish is a delight for your taste buds and a comfort for your soul. Fred the owner is an excellent host and a pleasant conversationalist. I am just looking forward to my next visit.Read more
“The best beach resort in Anda Bohol; perfect alternative to Panglao.”
A Bohol beach resort review from olintaha, November 3, 2012. Good location + Good facilities + Professional management = Best beach resort. This is what Amun Ini is. The location is good. The facilities are good. Professionally managed by Fred Carmona who is an expert in this field. All these makes Amun Ini even better than Panglao. I couldnt help but say “I shall return”.
“Home by the Sea”
A Bohol beach resort review from TesadeGuzman, October 25, 2012. My recent visit to Amun Ini was almost perfect except for the delayed flight and the cloudy weather. As the entrance doors silently opened, I did not expect the warm welcome and the spectacular view. Its like coming home after a long absence. The food was simply delicious and each dish was meticulously prepared. The rooms were very spacious and 3 of us fit in comfortably. I liked the balcony which had pebbles on the floor and which gave me the impression of never having to leave the beach. Customer service was the best and we were addressed by our first names at all times. This is a resort for people who are used to luxury and the good life.
“Excellent Food & Very Laid Back”
A Bohol beach resort review from TADoug, October 8, 2012. A wonderful spot to sit by the pool or on the beach and do lots of not much. The food is wonderful by any standards, but for the Philippines it is extraordinary. The ubiquitous white sandy beach and infinity pool lie in front of the fantastic open dining area. Greta hosts for which nothing is too much trouble. If you are looking for somewhere with a crazy nightclub scene that never stops, best look elsewhere. With only a dozen or so rooms, tranquility is the order of the day.
“A Peaceful Haven”
A Bohol beach resort review from MarySCumbria, April 27, 2012. All the reviews were correct….it’s a little piece of paradise. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to completely chill yet still be able to change their mind (when batteries were recharged) and get involved in something more strenuous like sight seeing/trekking or diving because Fred and Karin would be able to organise all these things for you.The food The food was amazing ,all freshly cooked and using locally sourced produce as far as possible. The staff were so lovely, it was as if they all belonged to one big happy family. The natural setting with coconut palms, papaya trees, jack fruit trees, mango trees and many native plants too numerous to mention added to the feeling of tranquility. The rooms were top class. Massages were top notch. Amun Ini is the place to stay when you go to Bohol!!!
When you go to Bohol amun ini is the place to stay!!!!
A Bohol beach resort review from Alexadls, April 16, 2012. It was worth the trip. The beach cove is just amazing and the pool was a welcome sight. If you are a nature lover, this place is where you should be. They have 2 resident hawks that the owner feeds every morning. It was an awesome sight. Compliments to the chef, the food was soooo good. I love that they use local produce. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious. The curtains are made out of woven abaca, the furnitures and bathroom design are simple yet elegant. We really enjoyed our stay in Amun-ini, it was very relaxing. The staff were great. We will definitely be back soon.
“Best in Bohol”
A Bohol beach resort review from Gervaise2001, April 13, 2012. We chose Amun Ini after reading several good reviews on Trip Advisor – they were absolutely right, this is a real gem. The owners have taken a private paradise cove and developed a first class boutique resort that is in complete harmony with nature but provides the modern comforts essential to a first class holiday. The rooms are luxuriously oversized, simply decorated with a fantastic bathroom design and all have a private outside balcony to enjoy the views to far off Camiguin. However, the real draw of Amun Ini is the cuisine – the kitchen team have devised a modern menu using local produce that reflects their passion for cooking and their innovation. The beautiful plates of food are far more complex and tasty than the simple menu descriptions would suggest but without doubt the whole menu is worthy of any quality restaurant in London, New York etc. If you love nature, peace and tranquility, and the feeling of being part of a big family with the boutique luxuries then this is the place for you. By far the best food and accommodation during our 2 weeks in the Philippines.
